Mountearl Gardens

Mountearl Gardens is in the borough of Lambeth, London, located in a residential area and a short walk from Streatham Hill Station. This development provides 29 one-bedroom apartments, three two-bedroom apartments and a wheelchair accessible unit. The building ranges in height from single storey to three storeys and is domestically scaled to suit the area. The layouts in the two-storey section differs on both floors and as a result the upper level module needed to cantilever to the side to support narrow modules above wide modules where the loadbearing walls misalign. The external walkways are suspended from roof level cantilevers offering uninterrupted space at ground level. The benefits of offsite were very evident during the construction of this building in an existing residential area with 60% fewer deliveries to site, 90% less waste and a 6-month reduction in build time.
